Community Center Project

A significant ongoing initiative is the development of the Ibom Community & Youth Development Center, which would serve as a hub for cultural, educational, and social activities. The project includes plans for a library to educate and enlighten youth, as well as meeting rooms for activities such as summer camps and classes where children can learn about Akwa Ibom culture. The association has set a fundraising goal of $1m to bring this vision to fruition. To support the community center project and other initiatives, AKISAN Houston organizes fundraising events. An upcoming event is scheduled for May 16, 2025, aiming to raise support and resources for the community center.

Through these efforts, AKISAN Houston continues to play a vital role in preserving the cultural heritage of the Akwa Ibom community in the Houston metropole, while contributing to the broader societal good through service and education.
